SPROCKET SIZES (KIT)?

 

The MOTOPED® kit comes with:

 

• Jackshaft: Left side is 26 tooth, Right side is 23 tooth, rear hub 34 tooth, Chain wheel 34 tooth, free wheel 14 tooth, drive sprocket. The sprocket sizes may vary depending on the model. Please consult with a MOTOPED® technician for more details

 

COUNTERSHAFT SPROCKET SIZE

 

• Most motors come with a 14 tooth sprocket, but it is recommended to replace it with a 13 tooth to eliminate the need for a half link. Half links are not as strong and can snap under high pressure.

 

WHAT IS A HALF LINK?

 

• Bike chains consist of alternately one link with outside plates and one link with inside plates. The only way a chain will join up is outside plates to inside plates. This means that chain lengths are normally only adjustable by two full link lengths.

• Use of the half link on the 420 chain not recommended with larger engine displacement.

• Enter the half link. The half link has outside plates at one end, but inside plates at the other. This makes it possible to adjust the chain length by only one link, if your MOTOPED® has limited room to adjust the chain tension this may prove helpful when adjusting the chain tension by moving the rear wheel.

SHOCK EXTENDER

 

• No longer manufactured or needed as the old design was set up for a 10.5” rear shock and now 9.5” is the stock eye to eye rear shock.

• 7/8”(22.2mm) wide – that’s total width when the two are put together into the shock, 5/16” (8mm) bolt hole
